Hey guys.. i'm from Richmond BC and i just upgraded my optik 25 mbps internet to the 50mbps! :) I'm actually very happy.. Getting 45-50mbps download and upload speed is around 8-9mbps :) They upgraded my router to the v2000h from v1000h.. the v2000h apparently uses 2 phone line and that is how my was configured... My question is regarding the WIFI.. when devices connected to the WIFI.. what are the typical download speed am i suppose to get? I was trying my phone, desktop that is connected using wifi and laptop with wifi.. Download speeds i'm getting is around 10-15mbps while the upload speed goes up to 8-9mbps.. Is it suppose to be like that or there's something wrong? With wired connection im getting the max download speed but for wifi its pretty slow.. Before when i was on 25mbps. .i think my wifi downlaod speed is also around 10-15mbps.. upgrading to 50mbps should make the download speed double right? Any help or advice would be appreciated Thanks!

There is a new beta that will be release for the STB that will enable the guide by "Subscribed channel". If the test goes well, we should expect this feature to be release sometime this year. -- I may work for, but do not necessarily represent the views and beliefs of TELUS Communications.

Does Telus Enforce Download Limits?

Hi guys, I'm with Telus. I was recently told that I have a 15GB download limit for my internet plan. I'm currently on Telus High Speed Lite, an old internet plan that they offered a couple years ago. Does Telus actually enforce their download limits? I found a couple of old threads here, but those were dated a couple of years ago. Any experiences or clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bridged Mode - All ports closed?

Hey Guys, I've switched my Actiontec to Bridged mode without issue, and I'm pulling an external IP just fine. However, regardless of the setup I can't seem to open any ports. I've tried bridging directly to a PC, as well as through my router (Sonicwall TZ205), but ports are always closed. The block seems to be happening through the Actiontec (or through Telus direct??). Any ideas?

Telus Internet suddenly quit

My telus Internet quit last night while I was in the middle of using it. It's been intermittent since then working for 5 or 10 minutes then quits. My router isn't able to get an IP address and my computer gets an Ip but no Dns info. Telus tech support has been utterly useless. Anyone have any ideas?

Olds, AB building nation's first 1Gbps internet service

And they're doing it themselves to all existing residences and businesses and it'll be way cheaper than Telus' offerings. My favorite quote from the article: "Because we're a community-owned project we get to balance out profitability versus what's best for the community." http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2013/07/17/technology-gigabit-internet-olds.html Anyone think Telus will even notice the entire community drop off their service? If Olds can install fiber that cheap, a question we all should be asking is why can't Telus/Shaw/etc?

[BC] longtime customer upgrade options - no discounts

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with having an upgraded plan's price reduced due to the "loyalty" or anything of the like... I have been with TELUS for more than 10 years, and I'm currently paying $30/mo for the "15" plan, because of systme upgrades and so on over the years. The actual plan name on my bill is "High Speed Turbo Internet", and I get 15Mb/s on the nose. I called recently to inquire whether I would get a reduced rate for the 50Mb/s plan, since I now have a couple of students living in the house, and we're starting to use netflix and so on more, but the rep said no... I didn't push that hard, but thought it was pretty disappointing that I would need to pay such a higher rate for that bandwidth change. In fact, she pointed out to me that if I decided to sign up for the 15Mb/s plan for whatever reason, I would have to pay the $50/month rate. Now, I don't expect 50Mb/s for $30 still, but maybe $55 would be reasonable... Has anyone had any luck negotiating with TELUS about something like that?

What is step 6) PPPoE login information? and lastly I don't see there is option on this modem to "disable" firmware updates from Telus? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Android users rejoice! Telus has pushed out an update to Optik Remote Record that "upgrades" (and essentially replaces the application) to Smart Remote. With this update, you can: • Set and manage your PVR recordings while you’re on the go so you don’t miss another show. • Spend less time channel surfing and use the guide filters to show only what you’re looking for. Recording management features allows you to sort your recordings by date, title, series, recorded or scheduled and filter by genre. • Find out what else is on and browse the interactive program guide on your mobile device without interrupting a moment of your show. • Use your mobile device to change the channel. • Get tons of program related information from sources like IMDB, Wikipedia and YouTube, as well as the channel scroll bar and diagnostics panel. • Set top box power on/off button [att=1]

[BC] Actiontec V1000H - 2 wireless? could only disable one?

On my new unit which I got yesterday with default FW 31.30L.55, I could use the root/....33n! and disable only one of the wireless  ? On the main screen its still showing wireless is ON despite having physically removing both the external antennas. The wireless screen is showing something like: All 7413 7413-1 7413-2 I could only disable the 7413-1, 7413-2 is still on no matter what I do...is this supposed to be the way? I'm also getting lots of Http 400 or 440 and then a pinkish screen, but usually a few refresh/backward button would get me back the normal screen, is this normal too? In one of the guide "for bridge mode" the cable from V1000H is supposed to connect to the DSL WAN port of the router, but another guide is saying the cable from the V1000H is supposed to connect to one of the 4 Ethernet/LAN port of the router, are both of these connections the same? Thanks.

Netflix spoofing may no longer work with Telus ADSL

Netflix streaming to the PS3 was changed recently to dynamically look for the fastest paths. This has implications for those using services such as unblock-us to work around country restrictions. The solution is to simply enable static routes for the appropriate dns servers. Unfortunately this is not possible with the Telus-provided routers. http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/1204704-netflix-on-the-ps3-incompatible-routers I am currently with Shaw, and was able to accommodate this change easily. I was considering switching to Telus because of Shaw's September 9% price increase, but unfortunately this issue is a show-stopper. My guess is that even if the feature is available in all the Telus routers (which apparently is not), not having root level access may prevent that change anyways. This Netflix change was made in the last week or so.

[BC] Port forwarding problem

I used to have Shaw internet and even though there were times when the connection felt slow and at times there would be game lag, at least 50% or more of the time it was fine, but with Telus it can take 10 modem reboots just to open the necessary ports for gaming and then once playing starts there is a window of approx. 10 minutes until the game lag become unbearable. I have the Optik 50 plan and honestly there is no difference from the 25 Mbps plan. I live in Vancouve and when I do a speed test to say Clearbrook the ping is 166 ms and speed is 7 Mbps. The only time I get anywhere close to 50 Mbps is when testing to servers in Burnaby or to Seatle, anywhere else in Canada or outside Vancouver the speeds range from 7-30 Mbps. Dissatisfied customer.

v1000 problem after resetting from bridge mode.

I was running a double NAT witht the v1000 and my n750 router fine before i tried to get into bridge mode. After failed attempt at bridge mode, i factory resetted both my v1000 and n750 to default. Im having problem running double NAT for some reason, i think because i changed the subnet to 255.0.0.0 in my router when i was in bridge mode. My internet works fine with my computer directly connected to the LAN port of the V1000. i get a normal subnet of 255.255.255.0 but when i connect my computer to the LAN of my N750 router, with the LAN of N750 connecting to LAN of V1000. i get a subnet of 255.0.0.0 i tried changing the subnet in the IP4, still doesnt work. somehow my subnet is still messed up from the bridge mode configs, keeps getting old subnet even after i change the subnet setting my my router to 255.255.255.0 or in the IPv4. how do i fix this?

Business 50

I currently have a business line in my residence and have 25/5 running on a ALU 7130 modem. This setup works awesome for me but I would like to bump up to the 50/10 for the increased upload speeds. I really need to keep my current setup of 1 modem going to a switch and then one ip to a serve and the other ip to the home lan. Is this even possible with the new 50 plan and is it even available on a business line? I may even consider just going to the residential plan as I really do not need the static ip's any more but would like to keep my 2 ip setup. I have looked and looked at the Telus site but can't even find my 25/5 plan listed in the business section? As for speed on my existing line I get an avg ping of 25ms and 24.89 Mbps up and 6.29 Mbps down and I am only about 500' to the fiber in the dslam. Any ideas

For both the Zyxel VSG1432 VDSL2 Gateway and Actiontec V1000H, once they are in "Bridge" mode (wireless + DHCP OFF), am I correct to assume that one doesn't need to upgrade the firmwares (security fixes)? since they are now basically "acting" as dump modems? My current FW: Zyxel VSG1432 FW V1.10(VFA.0) b7 HW A0B Actiontec V1000H FW 31.30L.55 HW 1A Thanks.
