IPv6 connectivity

Hi All. I can ping IPv6 internally and the modem LAN side but nothing outside the LAN. Any ideas what to look at to try to fix this? The modem will ping & trace IPv6 from its test pages but I can get nothing in or out of the LAN with IPv6.

https://registerdevice.telus.com/ SSL connection issue

This is an issue exist for years: Access to https://registerdevice.telus.com/ (which I manage our business acount static IP) is always fails in Chrome and Firefox (Ubuntu Desktop) because of failed SSL connection. Look its score on SSL Labs: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=registerdevice.telus.com&s=154.11.128.135&latest It is a shame for Telus itself as an ISP failed on a SSL connection on their own management site. I've asked this issue on the phone with their Rep many times and they have no clue at all. Funny thing is the Edge browser in Windows 10 works! So I have to start a RDP session to use a Windows PC to get access to this site. I hope someone here work for Telus can take a look into this issue and take care of it.

Hello, does anyone have any information about the new fiber construction in Vancouver? I found the page at https://fibre.telus.com/vancouver/ and I tried to leave contact info for my condo but it says they might take up to 30 days to get back to me Looking at http://vancouver.ca/streets-transportation/roadwork.aspx I can see that they're already in the and around the area doing construction but I have no idea what to expect

Wifi extender showing inactive in router

I am having some issues with a wired and wireless stb for optik tv, when investigating and talking to a telus tech they wanted me to access the wifi plus, easy enough, went into the router to look up the ip and it simply had "Inactive". I unplugged and plugged it back in and it showed up fine then. Why exactly would it show up as inactive, and should i be concerned considering it is installed in a central area of the house?

Considering Optik... want to understand affect on internet speed

Situation: 50 Mbps bonded service right now. Obtainable line rates ~ 53.9 Mbps and 52.9 Mbps. Question: If I add Optik to my account, does Telus provision my account for a higher than 50 Mbps speed to ensure minimum 50 Mbps obtainable data rate + TV? In case it is relevant: I have asked about 100 Mbps service at my address, but am told (1) by the call center that 100 Mbps service does not exist in my neighbourhood (Sweetgrass in Edmonton) and (2) by an expert here that my obtainable are too low for reliable service.

IPv6 with Actiontec T2200H

I have 50Mb/s bonded line. Telus provided Actiontec T2200H. If I enable IPv6 on T2200H it gets IPv6 WAN address with /64 and IPv6 Prefix or Delegated /56. It also gets 2 IPv6 DNS servers. 2001:568:ff09:10c::53 and 2001:568:ff09:10d::53 Using IPv6 Ping test page or IPv6 Traceroute page on T2200H I can't get successful reply from ipv6.google.com nor either of DNS servers. It fails on first hop and I get dialog stating "unknown host, or network is not currently available". Am I missing something? Is Telus' IPv6 network operational?

Upgraded internet, upload rate cut in half

We upgraded from Internet 15 to 25 after talking to the Loyalty Department earlier this week and now speeds have gone from c. 16/4-ish to 27/2-ish. I tried phoning tech support, but that was an utter waste of time- where do you find these people? I know Telus employees occasional read this forum, so... might there be a mistake in our new profile. I expected a slight bump in upload speeds (or at worst no difference), given the Attainable Line Rate: 78728 Kbps & 9247 Kbps Thanks for reading :)

[AB] TELUS Fibre Bonnie Doon Edmonton

I just moved house and lost my 50/10 service with TELUS. Best I can get in the new area is 15/1. If it's going to be that way for awhile I'll switch ISP, however I noticed on the TELUS Fibre map that my area (Bonnie Doon) is slated for Spring 2016. Was hoping there might be some techs or insiders on here that could confirm this as the front line TELUS staff can barely spell Fibre yet alone give any sort of information on it.

[AB] Without Optik TV service, I'm limited to 15 Mbps internet

Hi, Been a customer of Telus for over 15 years and have had Optik TV with 25 Mbps for about 5 years. I called in recently to discuss cancelling my TV service as I don't use it, and wanted to inquire about bumping up my internet speed to 50 Mbps. Telus told me this was impossible and without Optic TV, I was going to have to downgrade my internet to 15 Mbps. Luckily the CSR was nice enough to wave my TV charges for the next six months (since I don't watch it anyways) and I can continue to use the 25 Mbps connection until then. After that, I'm going to have to call in again and see what they can do. Anyone else having any luck keeping 25 or 50 Mbps without Optik service? Fibre is not currently in my area so I cannot switch to that. My only alternative is to switch ISPs completely. Thanks, Kevin

Huge Internet overages

Hi all, I've been puzzling over my January TELUS bill after having 806 GB worth of overages. As you can see attached, my usual usage comes nowhere near the 1306 GB I supposedly used. No one at TELUS can seem to find any system anomalies so I was wondering if anyone else had seen unusually high usage last month? Thanks!

Webhost DNS issue specific to Telus?

$

Alright let's see if i can explain this, basically i had been trying to access NIN.com an official band website for nine inch nails for the past few weeks to no avail. (ever since at least late February, earlier than that and it was working just fine) I know that the site is still online and functioning because my buddies overseas and stateside can use the site just fine and there's no reason it should be geoblocked, I can also get to it from a U.S. based proxy. After a process of elimination I have determined that it's not just me or local to my household configuration but others have experienced this same problem on the Telus network. (I posted about this on Facebook and at least two other people with Telus from Alberta said they couldn't access the site, I am unsure if this is only specific to Alberta though) So i gave Telus a call, the tech can't access the site either but said it's not a problem on their end as far as they can tell, at this point I'm trying to get in contact with the web host because who else am i supposed to talk to about this? Sudjam llc well wouldn't you know it... i can't access their website either so i ran their site through downuptime.net and it showed an error with one of the DNS servers with the address ns3.sudjam.com / 216.193.231.21 Is that the culprit? why is this specific to Telus? The one thing i hate about doing a lot of this kind of thing is nobody likes to really admit when there's a problem on their end and it's always someone else's fault. All i know is my router isn't blocking any websites, I've tried different IP addresses as well as different DNS addresses as opposed to the ones Telus assigns, Google and OpenDNS? same result. I also tried a TELUSDirect hotspot at 7-11 down the street and i couldn't even load the site from there so clearly this is well beyond anything to do with me. Needless to say i am stumped, i mostly just want normal access to the site for peace of mind, if anyone knows NIN / Trent Reznor they do tend to surprise their fans every now and then that and i can't even access their store to purchase merch from them directly so there's that. Thoughts? Appreciate any advice. In the meantime I am waiting on a response from Sudjam via email (i would call but i don't think it's toll free)... I swear if it's some useless automated thing telling me to do everything I've already done once more I will be quite disappointed. I'll update if i can and maybe they'll have a solution but I'm just curious what others might think at this point.

Need router suggestions!

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my router and need some help. Right now I'm using a Asus RT-N66U and it feels like it getting a bit dated. What's the best out there right now? I need something that can handle 4 computers wired, 2 wireless laptops and a phone. Of course I need full ipv6 support as I'm using Telus fiber 150 package. I use it for work and gaming so it has to be fast! I tried looking a bunch up on goggle, but can't decide.

[BC] Switching from Shaw to Telus - What should I know?

Hey DSLR'ers! I'd appreciate some thoughts and opinions here :) Recently, my Shaw bill went up from $120 to $170 due to a promotion we were on ending. So now I'm looking to switch to Telus (all 3 services: internet, TV, phone). I'm planning to get the 100/20 package (hopefully upgrading to Fibre once it gets to our area--UBC), along with Essentials TV and the home phone. I was quoted a price of $131/month total for the combination. Is there anything I should know switching from Shaw to Telus, or Telus in general? We've been with Shaw for as long as I can remember: :P Any thoughts on how the (actual) internet speeds would compare? Right now I'm on Shaw's 60/6 package, and I'm actually getting 70/7, which is pretty good. Thanks!

Can only get bonded 50/10 - What are the limiting factors?

I just got 50/10 service installed at my location at East Van (Slocan/29th Ave Area) and was told that the copper terminates at the Kingsway/Clarendon St Node. The modem is a Actiontec T2200 and these are the stats: Bonded Sync Rate: ============== Downstream Rate:76658Kbps Upstream Rate:12280Kbps Line 1: ============= Line Rate: 39067 Kbps / 6032 Kbps Attainable Line Rate: 51698 Kbps / 8286 Kbps SNR: 7.9 dB / 8.4 dB Attenuation: (DS1)17.5, (DS2)46.1 dB / (US1)7.6, (US2)37.9 dB Power: 18.6 dBm / 3.8 dBm Line 2: ============= Levels Downstream Upstream Line Rate: 37591 Kbps / 6248 Kbps Attainable Line Rate: 51212 Kbps / 8843 Kbps SNR: 8.9 dB / 9.0 dB Attenuation: (DS1)20.0, (DS2)50.4 dB / (US1)8.4, (US2)41.2 dB Power: 18.6 dBm / 5.3 dBm **VDSL2 Profile 8B** Speed tests show about 55 Down / 12 Up My questions are as follows: 1) If the modem is synced up at 72.8Mbps to the DSLAM, and only 52Mbps is obtained, is the bottleneck between the DSLAM and the internet backbone or the segment between the modem and the DSLAM due to signal strength etc...? 2) The attainable upstream is only 8286Kbps/8843Kbps over Line1 and 2 respectively giving 17129Kbps or approx. 16.75Mbps theoretical maximum. Is this technical limitation due to the distance between the modem and DSLAM, the type of equipment inside the node's cabinet that requires upgrade, oversaturation of the internet backbone feed to the node or something else? I am trying to understand the technical aspects of why 100/20 is not possible in my area yet and we need to bond two 25/5 lines to yield 50/10. Any technical input appreciated as this is a very interesting topic to me.

Access Point or Second Router in AP Mode

Hello all, Just bought a new house and I'm getting my gear ready to install for when we move in. I have an Asus RT-AC87U and two Asus GX-D1051 switches currently. The 87U will be hooked up in the basement next to the fibre drop. There are three ethernet cables run to the basement as well. One each in living room, bonus room, master bedroom. I plan to hook the two switches up to the living room and bonus room. The wireless coverage on the 2nd floor will be spotty. I am looking at either the Asus RT-AC68U or another RT-AC87U to serve as the access point on the 2nd floor in the master bedroom. My question is this: The dedicated access point 68U is $240 for 3x4 AC1900. The 87U is 200 for 4x4 AC2400. Why is the AP more than the router? The 87U has full access point capabilities. Is there a significant power usage or lifespan difference? Can anyone please shed some light on this for me? Also, is this a pretty decent setup or am I going about this the wrong way? Thanks

Slow Wifi

This is driving me crazy, when i upgraded to fiber I was giving a T1200H modem and every now and then it decided to give me 0 -3 Mbps down on wifi. However wired connection is always a perfect 26Mbps down with 7ms ping. This happens no matter if I plug into the Wan port form the fiber ONT or if I am plugged into the copper DSL network (both fiber and copper remained active after I upgraded to fiber, is this normal?). I have tried changing channels, and had the modem replaced by a tech but nothing work to fix the WIFI. Any idea why this is?

HDMI connection drop

I have a strange problem with my Optik TV PVR box that started appearing recently. Whenever I change the channel or rewind, play etc the HDMI connection seems to drop and the TV screen goes black for a second before coming back online. This doesn't happen with Component connection, only with HDMI connection. I have tried a different HDMI port on my TV and the problem still persists. Have also tried resetting the Optik PVR box. What could be causing this problem?
