Dynamic WAN IP Address (Telus Actiontec V2000H) - how to change?

Hi, this is probably old hat, but I could not find a thread. I would like to change my Telus WAN IP address. Even though dynamic, it has not changed for over a couple of years. This has caused me issues when a website tracks usage. Also would like to reset any hack bots out there. Release/Renew of DHCP does not work, and I can't find a way to change the MAC address. Thanks in advance.

Optik Mobile when using own router bridged

Hi all, I have Optik TV and telus internet Bridged to port1 on the Telus modem and then my computers are behind my own PFSense router. Once I moved my network behind PFSense the Optik TV mobile app now doesn't work for any programs with the Home Icon next to them. Is there any way around this besides using the telus device as my primary router?

Internet and Home Phone Bundle Questions

Hello, I was looking at the current deals Telus is offering and noticed they are offering bundled internet and home phone. I have a few questions in regards to the bundled promotions I hope someone can answer so it will make my call with Telus go a little more smoothly. A bit of background first. I have been with Telus for almost 20 years with home phone and internet. Currently I have been paying separately for both home phone and internet 6 (an older, not currently advertised package). The charge for the phone is $44.54 and $52 for the internet. In the past, whenever they have had new offers which would lower the total monthly charge or increase the speed for no additional charge etc, I've always had to contact them about it and have them make the proper changes. Questions: 1) Does anyone know how long (years) Telus has offered to bundle home phone and internet, if so is there any archived information I can look at for the previous pricing and details? 2) Have I been getting ripped off over the years if they've offered bundled home phone and internet without my knowledge? Even looking at the pricing for just home phone on their website shows that it is about half ($25) of what I am currently paying. 3) When you bundle home phone and internet, do you still pay for both the phone and internet? Current pricing being $58 for internet and $35 for home phone when bundled respectively (both $5 off). Their website is a bit vague on this. 4) Being a loyal customer and them not contacting me when pricing/deal/package changes occur, What are the chances of them throwing in something free like extra data per month or second tier internet for first tier pricing? Who do I need to talk to about this sort of thing? Please let me know if I've misunderstood anything about their pricing and deals they currently have. Thank you

Rural Ports Unavailable

I live in a small rural community in southern B.C on the outskirts of Chilliwack and back in 2010 due to some issues, my family was forced to cancel our DSL with Telus, after some things were sorted out we attempted to have our DSL service renewed. We were informed that there was no ports available and were told that we would be placed on a waiting list. Phone call after phone call over the years hasn't garnered any estimates as to when a port would become available or if they was to be any upgrades done to include more ports in our small community. Telus happens to be the only service provider I am aware of and was wondering if anyone might have any knowledge as to the length people wait for upgrades and/or port availability. The dial up in 2016 is getting a tad old.

Telus modem loses connectivity and tv goes out

I had telus for awhile but just internet, sometimes I would love internet signal and thus have to unplug the modem and it would be fine again. That happened frequently a year ago and then resolved generally for 6 months. Now i am with telus for tv so the stakes are higher, i have the updated modem from the v1000h (whatever that is), i am on a phone line dsl yet, and this is happening frequently again and my family is none to happy when the tv goes out. Essentially the tv will start stuttering, macro-blocking, and i know i am about to lose signal to all tv's. Does anyone have any idea what the issue maybe, i plan on calling telus about it, but i always receive good info here as well.

UBB 9 months later - How are people doing?

Well it's coming up on the end of 2015, and Telus has had UBB active for 9 months. In the beginning some people got 6 months unlimited for free, hows it going now? Were you about to get it extended? I have had my Telus connection for 3 months and had 3 months unlimited for free. I called in last evening and said the people upstairs with 3 kids are on Shaw go over and never get a call or charges. Loyalty (who I made laugh with my true hatred of TV (Netflix), movies etc), extended me another 3 months of Unlimited for free then $15/month (even though I don't have cable) for unlimited for life.

Notice of spam incident

I was looking at my Gmail account spam folder and noticed that I received a email from Telus, this is normal as my Gmail account is on file with them and I get Bandwidth usage notices from them. How ever this one was titled Notice of spam incident address. At first I thought it was fake, but to check I went to Google and checked my IP, which to my surprise came back as a IPv6 address. So I hit another website www.iplocation.net which returns the same IP as in the email, so it appears its not a fake. However my Wifi Access point is secured, tho not with the worlds strongest password, but not one on the list top 1000 passwords. I only have two computers and pretty sure there is no Spam bots running on them. My Question is 1. Anyone else received these types of Email Spam notices, should I call telus about it? 2. With the move to IPv6 any chance that IPv4 address is being shared or moved around right now? 3. Any chance Telus screwed up sending me that email? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris

The quality of service is so freaking bad and it will not improve with all the talk of fibre. Picture quality has gone down, the tv guide is the worst I have ever seen, Upstream bufferbloat that is so high it renders any real time applications null. We hope Shaw is better because we want this Telus crappy hardware out of our house! You know what ... Pretty commercials and saying you care don't automatically mean you are a good company. The service is crap. Why are there people on this forum promoting upgrading to fibre when the service they offer right now is so mediocre?

[BC] TELUS e-mail limit

Hello. Victoria network tech here. Our yacht club is trying to create a mass e-mail list of all our members. The guy doing it says if there are ~100 or less names the e-mail goes out, but any more than that it crashes. There are about 400 names on the master list. He is on HS25 with Optik. Is there a limit on how many e-mail addresses can be on a single e-mail? Can exceptions be made for this? If anyone e-mails me from within the Telus network, I'll share his e-fullfillment screen. Thanks, gregg.mckay@telus.com

[ALL] Telus Actiontec v1000h ports opened mysteriously.

I do support work for businesses, and at two different client’s locations, I’ve noticed something weird on their routers. The routers are both Actiontec V1000H units from Telus. Both had uPNP enabled. Both had a laundry list of ports open, generally pointing to one or two machines on the network, all over TCP. So, you’d have, say, LAN start/End port 8080, directed to a machine, with a WAN port of 8123. But dozens of them. On one I worked on today, they have a little QNAP NAS. The list of WAN ports pointing to this unit is like so: 8105 8128, 9 8106, 7,8,9,10 8082 8111 8124, 5 8085, 6 8131 8112 8132, 3 8083, 4 8113, 4, 5, 6 8087 8090 8117, 8 , 9, 20 8126, 7 8091, 2, 3 8121 8094, 5, 6, 7 8122 8098 8123 8099 I killed them all off, except for 8080 pointing to the device, LAN and WAN, then turned off uPNP.. The other client’s was like this too. The only way to stop it was to kill uPNP, which I found really odd, because unless you can log in to this router, you shouldn’t be able to make changes to the firewall like this AFAIK. Now, it just occurred to me. If someone took control of a uPNP device (how, I don’t know), could they make changes like this, and if so, for what? Botting? One client has a ton of Barracuda filters, which haven’t picked anything…the other one didn’t have any other firewall gear. Any ideas?

Top tier internet crashes every night at 9:30

We cut the cord recently and now rely on Telus Top Tier unlimited internet for our entertainment needs. Soon after the technician installed a so-called 'upgraded' modem, we began losing our internet connection every night between 9:30 and 10:00, sometimes intermittently but mostly it would stay down until the next day. Resetting the modem sometimes brings it back momentarily but a few minutes later it would drop out again. At the same time, our land-line phone crackles so badly it's unusable. Telus crews have replaced cables and connections both inside and outside the house to no avail although they seem to have cured the crackling problem. This is getting frustrating especially since we never had these problems with the old modem. We have one TV hooked up via a wireless PC and two via Chromecasts, plus two tablets and three phones. Telus indicated to us that the new modem would support four TVs without difficulty but so far that's not been the case. Network signal strength is good so that's not the problem. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if a gated community would have to pay for Telus to upgrade their lines to fibre, or does Telus do it on their own? We just got notice of this happening in our community and I am wondering if this will herald increases by our park management.

Telus FTTH woes

$

I know there are some Telus employees on here that from time to time help out frustrated customers. If you are one of those people please respond and I will PM you my account details. Here is my issue: Moved into a brand new home just over a year ago. I am in the greenfield community with Fiber to my home with a lucent ONT in my basement. Getting services hooked up was a huge pain with CSR's insisting I could only get DSL service. I don't remember how but I finally got a phone number to the FTTH group who was able to set everything up for me no problem. I was told I could get up to 100Meg service at my place but I chose 50Meg at the time. Fast forward to today I was trying to inquire about going up to 100meg or faster service and am being told 50meg is the max for my location. So has something changed? I am positive I am on CE equipment so where is this new speed limitation coming from? When I asked to talk to the FTTH group the CSR's both times have said that group doesn't exist and I am getting very frustrated. One CSR even tried to tell me I have a DSL circuit.....Please help if you can. Thanks
