[BC] Some questions about the V1000h and firmware flashing. (Telus)

The firmware on it is 31.30L.55 . I have it set into bridge mode, I have full admin access to the unit. Can I flash this with the older 31.30L.34 NCS stock firmware from actiontec? I'm looking to use this with another provider. Unless this is not necessary at all. I saw some posts in the past about an unlocked firmware by the user TelusFW. But the link there is dead: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27779984-Actiontec-V1000H-NCS-firmware-with-A2pv6C035f-d22c-DSL-PHY Anyone have a similar experience; flashing this unit and switching to another provider?

It looks like Telus has some routing issues this morning. I was using 207.102.93.157 & 207.194.28.230 as DNS, but there is no route to those servers. Tracing route to bnbyps08.telus.net [207.102.93.157] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 13 ms 10 ms 10 ms 10.31.224.1 3 24 ms 23 ms 23 ms 75.154.215.196 4 * * * Request timed out. 5 * * * Request timed out. 6 * * * Request timed out. 7 * * * Request timed out. 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 * * * Request timed out. I temporarily resolved the issue by adding an OpenDNS server.

[BC] Max speeds for single line non-bonded?

$

So a cool Telus advisor came today to set up my net but unfortunately told me that all the reserved wires are being used by others in my building so they couldn't do a bond for 50/10. I was suggested to downgrade to 25/5 instead but I said I still wanted the 50/10 and asked him to max out as much speed a single line can handle. Apparently my line can support up to 60ish/9.3-5ish so it is possible to do 50/10 which is what I currently have atm. Are there any negative side effects of stressing the max or near max speeds on a single line?

What is the purpose of the second LAN port on the Telus range extender, specifically the WEB6000Q? Can it be used for load balancing two connections?

Telus fibre Merritt March 2016

I see Telus is doing some updating on their site... Wow! The price for fibre internet, for the Merritt BC fibre rollout in March. $75 a month, 'regular price' for fibre 150. And see the screen shots for the rest. Edit: The Optical network terminal (where the fiber plugs in) is your modem. Don't need the Actiontec gateway (which will act as only a router on fibre) , when only subscribed to internet. Those that subscribe to Optik TV, can add a gigabit network switch first at the ONT, resulting in using the Actiontec for OptikTV and your personally provided router for internet. Each will gain an internet routable ip address and be 2 separate networks. https://www.telus.com/en/bc/internet/fibre/merritt/overview [att=1] [att=2] [att=3] [att=4] -- Knowledge and curiosity are not crimes and those who are curious should not be treated like criminals. https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere

Upgraded internet, upload rate cut in half

We upgraded from Internet 15 to 25 after talking to the Loyalty Department earlier this week and now speeds have gone from c. 16/4-ish to 27/2-ish. I tried phoning tech support, but that was an utter waste of time- where do you find these people? I know Telus employees occasional read this forum, so... might there be a mistake in our new profile. I expected a slight bump in upload speeds (or at worst no difference), given the Attainable Line Rate: 78728 Kbps & 9247 Kbps Thanks for reading :)

[AB] T2200H .06 firmware : Advanced DMZ feature missing/removed

Hello, Had a Telus package installed recently with T2200H, it automatically pushed the .06 firmware to it. When i went to access the Advanced DMZ page... https://www.dslreports.com/speak/slideshow/29402542?c=2174872&ret=64urlL2ZvcnVtL3IyOTQwMjI1OC1UMTIwMC0yMjAwLUluZm9ybWF0aW9uLVRocmVhZA It's no longer there.. I have no intention of running a expensive VPN router behind this thing in a double NAT situation simply because you can't disable NAT on this unit in any other way than advanced DMZ as mentioned in the thread on this forum. https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29402258- If it existed in the .13 firmware why has access to this been removed in a supposedly "upgraded" version?!?

[Mobility] Telus starts VoLTE testing in part of Lower Mainland

https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/about-volte Mobility services About VoLTE VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is the next evolution in wireless calling. It allows customers with a compatible phone to place and receive calls over the TELUS LTE network instead of the HSPA network. There are multiple benefits to this including: Increased availability of HD Voice Simultaneous use of voice and LTE data Faster call set-up Previously, data was carried over LTE when you were not on a voice call. If you were on a voice call, then your data was transmitted using the slower 3G speeds. Now, with VoLTE, your data will be carried over LTE even when you’re on a voice call. Additional Information: VoLTE services are currently available in Lower Mainland British Columbia. Stay tuned, we will be adding more locations in the future Currently VoLTE is available on the following devices; Samsung S6 LG G4 Note: More devices will be added in the near future. VoLTE is only available, where enabled, within the TELUS LTE network. Your voice calls will still work over HSPA while you’re traveling If you are not on the TELUS LTE network, or you move to an area not on the TELUS LTE network then your call will be seamlessly carried over the TELUS HSPA network There are no additional fees for using the VoLTE service and does not use any of your allotted data Currently VoLTE does not support video calling. http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/carriers/telus/telus-volte-bc-lower-mainland/ ...voice calls will be seamlessly transitioned to HSPA networks when travelling outside of LTE coverage, and also there are no fees associated with VoLTE and the service does not consume any data. ...As of now, VoLTE on the TELUS network is limited to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG G4 smartphones. ....TELUS explained they “will continue to expand VoLTE coverage and our list of compatible devices through 2016.” http://www.androidcentral.com/telus-begins-volte-pilot-british-columbia-select-android-phones Telus, Canada's second-largest wireless provider, has launched Voice Over LTE, or VoLTE, as a pilot in a small area of the British Columbia Lower Mainland before rolling it out to the rest of the country. ....As with VoLTE on both Rogers and Bell, Telus does not deduct the data consumed for a VoLTE call from a customer's monthly bandwidth. Reminder that Telus also still has the closed beta of 'Telus Extend' to shunt calls to wifi, via an app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.telus.telusextend&hl=en -- Telus/Koodo, no Social Insurance numbers allowed http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/protect/provide.shtml Knowledge and curiosity are not crimes and those who are curious should not be treated like criminals. https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere

Slow Wifi

This is driving me crazy, when i upgraded to fiber I was giving a T1200H modem and every now and then it decided to give me 0 -3 Mbps down on wifi. However wired connection is always a perfect 26Mbps down with 7ms ping. This happens no matter if I plug into the Wan port form the fiber ONT or if I am plugged into the copper DSL network (both fiber and copper remained active after I upgraded to fiber, is this normal?). I have tried changing channels, and had the modem replaced by a tech but nothing work to fix the WIFI. Any idea why this is?

[AB] Telus Fibre in Sweetgrass Edmonton

The Telus map says we're "Planned for Future Phases", but I asked the crew in my neighborhood what all the orange conduit being plumbed in underground was for and they confirmed it was Telus fibre and that all houses were going to be connected. I wounder if they'd plumb it in and then wait until the "future" to light it up? Hope not! It is strange that this is one of the more interesting developments in communications/entertainment arena in a long time and yet, even though I signed up for updates, there is no promotion or fan-fair. Ironic, the one time I want a call from Telus...

My new address

Any Telus installers/reps on this forum? I'd like them to look into my new address that i'l be moving into in June and find out if 100 or 150 is available (it's a brand new home under construction, so i'm going to assume it's fibre and can get those speeds). Thank you!
