Telus Actiontec v2000h memory dump?

Hi all, I'm new to this site but am up to speed with the subject material. I just had the Telus tech over this afternoon to swap my v1000h for a v2000h to accomodate my upgrade to 50Mbit service. Much to my dismay, I discovered shortly after he left that I couldn't use the old "unplug and factory reset" trick to revert the root password back to the commonly known one that worked on the previous firmware; on this revision (31.122L.11) it is well documented that the old default root passwords are no longer what they used to be. So now it's time to figure out how to bridge my new hardware and get my setup going again the way it used to be with the v1000h on the older firmware. Could anyone steer me in the right direction? I have a feeling I'll be up late tonight trying to take this thing apart and find out a way to break in, any tips that would save me some time would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

How would I access additional features on the v1000h such as the HPNA settings or the QoS settings?

Has Telus made changes to their email spam control? I use a third party account to control spam, so I really do not need Telus spam control. The settings on my email account were to flag spam and forward it to my account. My third party account had quarantined a message caught by CloudMark, and I wanted to verify it as spam and where it originated. I twice released the message and forwarded to my Telus account. Only when I disabled spam control on my Telus account and forwarded it for the third time did I receive it. It turns out it was one of those Canada Post Delivery Failure notices originating from Spain.

High ping inside telus network

I've been trying to figure out why my ping has gone all over the place this last week. I play League of Legends quite often, and usually ping ~70ms to the servers. Last week or so I've been pinging 105ms, with lots of spikes (these are just league though I'm sure). I know obviously that Telus cannot do anything once it leaves their network. I run a tracert and noticed something very odd: 1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms my.router [10.0.0.1] 2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.254 3 8 ms 7 ms 7 ms 10.151.144.1 4 8 ms 7 ms 8 ms 173.182.206.230 5 8 ms 7 ms 7 ms 173.182.206.242 6 8 ms 7 ms 10 ms edtnab02ca01.bb.telus.com [154.11.94.228] 7 52 ms 52 ms 52 ms CHCGILDTCI01.bb.telus.com [75.154.223.242] 52 ms to Vancouver. This is usually 25 on my end. This accounts for the increase in average latency on league. Is there any reasoning for this or does anyone have an idea to try on my end?

Hello, I'll be soon upgrading from Internet 6 to 25, and would like to know if there is a specific device I should ask for to use with my own E4200 router. Looking at the Telus website, it looks like they're offering the ZyXEL VSG-1432 as the VDSL device. I've also seen on here that some people have gotten the Actiontec V1000H, and a few people were able to get a modem-only device. Are both gateways easy to set to bridge mode, or is one better than the other? Should I bother to ask for a modem only? Thanks

We are on the Optik 50/10 we used to get 50 Mbps download, but now when we run tests, local, throughout the Province and outside the Province we rarely see 50 Mbps. Are speed is any where from 20-35 Mbps download. We were told this area may be oversaturated. I live down town Vancouver Thurlow and Nelson area. Others I talk to in this area also state they have noticed their connection degrading bit by bit. We are thinking of downgrading to the 25 download. We'll see.

I have optik tv and 15mb Internet. I also have the ALU so I have a my optik running on V1000 and the internet on the ALU. In my area, I can only get the Telus 50 if its bonded which will have to use the V2000. Can I just "dummy" the V2000 like the ALU? and keep the V1000 for TV?

IPTV and wireless boxes

I was pondering on the Telus IPTV, for our next location in life..... Yes. I know. Non-sanctioned setup. Is it possible to use a dual-band(simultaneous) router(2.4Ghz/5Ghz) with the Telus wireless boxes? I know, IGMP filtering, to avoid multi-cast floods, which I hope DD-WRT can separate between the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi channels... The Telus IPTV boxes run on 5Ghz wireless, plus they also have a Ethernet port to avoid the initial "you need the Ven501!" during a Telus tech setup. http://www.telus.com/tv/hardware.jsp I am going to guess they have no special bond to a Telus Ven501 and are Wifi security channel programmable. AT&T version of wireless IPTV transmitter, Ven501. PDF: http://www.att.com/media/att/2013/support/pdf/ciscowap78_100141_01b0_ven501.pdf Also, we don't need the PVR/DVR, since we only need the 2 wireless IPTV boxes for service, which I guess is no problem. That makes it a $300 +tax investment(no contract and owning the boxes). -- When peasants own the government, there is freedom. I received an email from Telus today regarding some changes they've made. In the email regarding the internet, it listed all of this: "Thank you for continuing to trust TELUS with your home services. We know you have choices, which is why we’re committed to giving you an exceptional customer experience and to continuously making improvements to serve you better. Over the last year, we’ve invested over $1.3 billion to improve the reliability and enhance the features of both our network and services, which is over 60% more than the cable company. Here are some of the ways we’re working to make your TELUS experience better. We’re committed to delivering reliable Internet with consistent speeds. With Internet traffic doubling on our network over the last two years alone, we know that staying connected with fast and reliable service is more important than ever before. To bring you a better experience, we’ve: Upgraded our network equipment to meet growing demand and provide you with reliable Internet service Increased upload speeds so you can share information faster. Plus, we now offer download speeds of up to 50 Mbps in many communities Introduced a Wi-Fi extender to increase connection strength throughout your home Redesigned and re-launched our email service with a faster and more stable platform, new features and a larger 5 GB mailbox for every account" As you can see they say they introduced a wifi extender. Anyone know anything about this? I couldn't find anything on their website.

[AB] V1000h error while logged into GUI

I have been seeing this error for the last 2 days Modem Configuration Thank You! Another management entity is currently configuring this unit. We'll take you back to the page shortly. I looked up on the forums and found an old post stating that it may be due to a botched firmware update. I just talked to Telus and was told there is no update happening at this moment for my modem. The only thing they could suggest is do a factory reset and since I am not at home for the next few weeks that doesn't work to well for me lol. So I guess, I am just wondering if anyone else has seen it or knows of a solution? Kind of trying to stay away from the someone else is messing around in my home network paranoia but who knows, anything is possible.

Once again all of a popular UK show that I watch have been removed from U Tube and Google .I have not checked on others but this could also be the same. We pay high rates for our internet surely they could afford some of that to go to the Companies that produce these shows and still get a profit? Some countries are making it so all their citizens can have free access to the internet.

[BC] Actiontec V1000h Port Forwarding

$

I have seen a fair bit of port forwarding information, however, I really want to confirm how the fields on the port forwarding setup page for this router are to be used. It is a little confusing and the Actiontec user manual is somewhat short on the subject. For me, I am trying to port forward port 8080 on my modem IP to an internal server (ie. to an internal server IP address). I am assuming that the forwarding can be made to port 80 on that internal IP. The port forwarding setup page on the V1000h has two sections as follows: 1. Set the LAN Port and IP Information Starting Port: Ending Port: Protocol: LAN IP Address: 2. Set the Remote Port and IP Information (optional) Starting Port: Ending Port: Set Remote IP Address: (0.0.0.0 will use any IP address) So, for my needs I assume I would put 8080 into the starting and ending ports field in section 1. The protocol is TCP. Now, is the LAN IP address to be set as the modem/router IP address or is it to be the IP address of the internal server you are forwarding the user to? Section 2 is evidently optional. But what can it be used for. Does it specify the port on the internal server to which you want the external request going to. If that's the case, can I make it port 80. And is the Remote IP address the address of the internal server to which you are directing the request? If you leave as 0.0.0.0 where is the request forwarded to (which machine on the internal network?).
