I have got Telus purefibre 150 (gpon) installed at two locations now. In both locations I haven't been able to get the username or password for the static registration page. Both times I have spent a very long time on the phone trying unsuccessfully to get the information. In both cases I've had to give them the MAC addresses to add manually. Today the rep somewhat admitted this is a bug. Anyone else been successful in getting the information? I've got a few other offices on copper and have to information for those.

Telus updated privacy commitment May 2017
The notice referrer
https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/updates-to-our-privacy-commitment-and-code
Updated privacy commitment / privacy policy page. Trying to be easy to read (collecting data for improvement and promotions) while not really telling you what 'exactly' happens to all your information that passes across the Telus corporation and all its legal entities. Telus is better for the consumer than many others when it comes to selling your private information for profit cough Bhell cough, but collecting certain privacy protected information creates a larger more exacting profile on each person.
https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/privacy-policy
Still includes the usual threat of if you don't provide certain 'privacy act protected' personal information Telus (or other Telus companies) wants, they'll deny you service (new or existing), resulting in you having to go to Government agencies to files charges against Telus for privacy act violations, in order to get or retain service.
You may refuse to provide personal information to us. You may also withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. However, in either case, this may limit our ability to serve you and may force us to cancel some or all of the services you receive from us. People send in an order to see what personal information a company has on them, and may notice all sorts of privacy violations of information that was not provided by the customer. ex: store agent or installer saw and then wrote down an I.D. number that was not authorized to be copied. ex: Company adds in information from 'offline data brokers', which under the law is known as stalking (criminal act).
Telus has a new word for their privacy statement. "de-identification" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De-identification . Means absolutely nothing. The old word was "aggregated" or "anonymize". Studies show that obscured personal data can still be tracked back to the original owner. And with Telus offshoring all that private data to call centers, your personal information is not safe under Canadian law. Canadian companies tend to ignore privacy breaches when they happen offshore, since it is not Canadian soil.
Privacy Commissioner and why collecting of Social Insurance Number and Drivers License is a big no no.
* Protect your S.I.N. https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/programs/sin/protect.html
* Protect your License number https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/privacy-topics/identity-and-privacy/drivers-licences/guide_edl/
-Telus' collection of certain customer information is in violation of the Privacy Act https://static.telus.com/common/cms/files/get-help/privacy-policy/TELUS_Privacy_Commitment_En.pdf
Only in very rare circumstances would Telus or any other company need more information to do a credit check, beyond name and address. Companies, such as a bank's credit card, do have a bypass of the credit check (for those with no credit) by putting down a deposit to act as a buffer to ensure payments are never negative to balance owing.
So when will Telus drop the S.I.N. and or drivers license number requirement from their online ordering system? A company will claim it's for "security" and to avoid "fraud", but even the Privacy Commissioner says that's a crock of shit. You can order plenty of things online, and your payment method helps to ensure the payment address matches the destination address.
Privacy protection of your government issued documents is very fragile, and you really don't need a case of identity theft due to a company taking information that they are not legally entitled too. Take a look down south in the U.S. and seeing that tens of millions of Social Security Numbers can easily be bought and sold due to companies demanding it for services. If you can't trust your customers to pay their bills, then don't make is so easy to get a product with no money down for months of use.
And for those who stupidly photocopied or scanned their Government issued I.D., and sent it to some address at some company, congratulations on being a potential victim of future identity theft. You may not know your identity was stolen until there are some odd numbers on your yearly credit report, or the debt collectors come along.

[ALL] For those who made the switch from Shaw to Telus, was it worth it?
I currently have a very bad saturation issue in my area with Shaw and the only fix is to switch ISPs. The saturation issue seems to pop up in my area every year and isn't fixed for months. I currently am paying for Shaw 150 but I only receive 90-95 down and my experience with lag (ping fluctuates a lot, here is a trace route: http://i.imgur.com/QvxsAXk.png) is horrible when playing online. "PureFibre" is available in my area and I'm willing to make the switch. I just want to be able to play online with my friends again and not have to worry about the internet issue anymore.

Telus fibre towns list, as of Jan 13 2017
Some of these are still to be built/mapped
Sept 2016, updated this list, added towns https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30986416-
Edit: The Fibre optical Network Terminal (ONT) is the Telus modem. You can plug your personal router to the ONT and get service. If you also have Optik TV, you can plug gigabit switch to the ONT and use your router to one port with the Telus Actiontec to another port on the switch. You will get 2 WAN ip address (1 for each). Using your own router for both TV and Internet, you have to deal with TV multicast which can overwhelm your Wifi and shut down your router connectivity. You should also be able to use the Actiontec T series port1 bridge mode while on fibre.
The Telus call center script readers will not support anything beyond their all in one Actiontec gateway. So deal with your own issues with your equipment.
The ONT also has 2 POTS (plain old telephone service) ports for your phone, which can be adapted to connect to your current house phone lines if you don't have cordless phones.
The ONT install might not be supplied with a UPS(uninteruptable power supply) if you don't subscribe to Telus home phone. You can use your own UPS to power the ONT.

[BC] Telus 150M download/upload comes with unlimited bandwidth?
I just had a Telus rep knock on my door informing me that my neighborhood has fiber ready and needs to make an appointment with me to have the technician come do the installation.
He said that currently my 50M plan + unlimited bandwidth addon costs more than the 150M plan alone, since 150M plan comes with unlimited bandwidth by default.
I agreed to the upgrade but now I am checking the Telus website and it is saying 150M has 1TB bandwidth.
So was the rep giving me wrong information? or is this a promotion that is not shown on the website? I need to know since I do go over 1TB bandwidth regularly.

Unavailable seconds
Bonded 100/20, router T3200M
I posted this question a while back, but no replies and Information on the web varies and is somewhat unclear. On my line status data page it shows I have 152 unavailable seconds on line 1 and on 122 unavailable seconds on line 2. My question: Over what period of time are those unavailable seconds, is it since I rebooted the router or is it every 30 minutes or 10 Min?
Thank you

[ALL] Breakaway Cable Connection
We switched over to fibre today and as part of the process the tech replaced our pvr. Good news, I guess, is that the new box is 4K ready (even if we aren't). The bad news is that the old box had HDMI and component video and audio out connectors which allowed up to connect it to our Slingbox 500. The new box only has one HDMI out.
Looking at the Arris 5662W manual, I see that there is a "breakaway cable connection" which apparently is an alternate output for component video and audio.
Has anyone used this option and if so where does one find the connector. I did a quick search and haven't found anything that looks right.

Scientific Atlanta receiver
I have a telus tech coming soon for a fibre upgrade. Ive had optik for a couple of years on copper. They said they can upgrade my 430 PVR at the same time to a 75xx box as yes its a bit of a slug. I also have one of the silver old scientific atlantic boxes. The box works okay. What do they upgrade it to a 330? Is it just a newer and faster box? It works fine. I have another 330 and I think this old SA runs about the same as the 330.

Telus Smarthub LTE Internet high GB plan
Can someone confirm if this is valid. Seems to be a quiet new deal. It's a slightly hidden page (not linked from elsewhere) on the Telus main website.
Much better than what is the usual offering with lower caps and higher price. https://www.telus.com/en/bc/mobility/mobile-internet/
Limited to eligible cities in BC and Alberta, but there is many of them. The usual capacity needed for high usage. Self install. May have subscription conditions to do with availability of Telus copper/fibre at your home, so rural usage is main target.
