Hi guys i currently have the older actiontec and being upgraded to the 100 service in a few days. I use my own ddwrt router under port 1 bridge mode and everything works perfectly. Does the new WEB6000Q Wi-Fi extender have this option as well? its a must have for me!

[ALL] Internal segregation w/ Actiontec V1000H

Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to internally segregate my network with TELUS's Actiontec V1000H? We have a new retail store and I'm just going through the process of configuring the firewall. We have a couple video cameras that have an open incoming port so I can log in remotely and have a look at what's going on in the store. The cameras are on the same network as our payment terminal, etc. I'm sure this is a common thing. If the video cameras get compromised, I don't want someone having the ability to infect our payment terminal or front desk computer. It seems to me my options with the Actiontec V1000H are pretty limited. But I'm no expert and maybe I'm missing something. Thanks, Kenton

PureFibre Optik TV and Internet on two different routers

Been on Fibre 150/150 for over a month now and loving it. Based on some other discussions on this forum, I am trying to entirely segregate my Optik TV from my internet. To this end, I have set up my connection to position a switch between my ONT and the routers, like this: ONT --- Switch --- Telus Router --- Switch --- 5 TVs | ------- Netgear Router --- Switch --- 15 PCs/etc The Netgear router is using the 10.0.0.X domain and the Telus router is using 192.168.1.xxx. If I log into each router, neither indicates that it has any "attached devices" other than the ones that are supposed to be. So this seems great, right? Working as intended? Not quite. Oddly, when I reboot the Netgear Router, while it is rebooting the TVs lose signal. TVs regain signal once the router is done rebooting. I confirmed multiple times that none of the TVs show up on the router's "attached devices" list. The whole idea of segregating the networks was to make the TVs independent of the other router and devices on my network. But losing TV signal when rebooting the Netgear Router seems to suggest the TVs are dependent on the other network in some way. Any thoughts? This isn't a huge deal since everything is functioning well, it's just this nuance that has me scratching my head.

https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/telus-bundle-discount-rate-changes TELUS Bundle Discount rate change Posted January 1, 2017 The cost of providing TELUS Home Services continues to increase as we continue to upgrade our networks and services. We are doing our best to keep rate increases as moderate as possible, while constantly working to improve the service with better speed, reliability and functionality. We are committed to ensuring that our customers receive Canada’s best home services experience. Starting on March 1, 2017, the regular monthly rate for the TELUS Bundle Discount will decrease from $5 to $3 per month, per product. For example, for customers with three TELUS products (High Speed Internet + TV + Home Phone), the TELUS Bundle Discount will change from $15 to $9 per month. For customers on select promotions that began prior to February 28, 2017, promotional discounts will increase to offset the TELUS Bundle Discount rate change, keeping the overall monthly rate the same, until the promotion ends. For example, for customers who added a new TELUS product on November 1, 2016 with an offer that included 6 months of promotional pricing, the promotional rate will continue for the full 6 months. The promotion discount will increase to offset the TELUS Bundle Discount decrease, keeping the overall monthly rate the same for the remainder of the promotional period. For details on how you may be affected by this rate change, please see the product section(s) on your March bill.

Telus Fibre - Multiple IP Addresses

Recently had fibre installed - yay. Is it possible to have 2 public IP addresses? What I'd like to do is maintain the existing Telus router + wifi, then create a second network for my lab ideally with its own separate public IP. When talking to Telus Support, they stated that it is only possible to have a single public IP per ONT device. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Thanks!

Telus tech didn't show up

Hi, I'm in Vancouver, we had an appointment this morning, I took the morning off work, tech didn't show up. Their hold times are greater than 45 minutes with no option to call back. Great. I can't even talk to them. What to do? I mean the tech has my number, is it too much to ask for for them to call me and let me know they're not going to make it? So disrespectful...

I have it on good authority that the 4K PVR will be released on June 29. It will have a cap of 28 Mbps and each 4K stream will take up 22 Mbps of that, HD will require 6 Mbps. I'm assuming that you can watch any combination of 4K/HD/SD until you reach 28 Mbps but I don't know that for sure. I must say that I'm pretty stoked about this!

Telus fibre towns list, as of Jan 13 2017

Some of these are still to be built/mapped Sept 2016, updated this list, added towns https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30986416- Edit: The Fibre optical Network Terminal (ONT) is the Telus modem. You can plug your personal router to the ONT and get service. If you also have Optik TV, you can plug gigabit switch to the ONT and use your router to one port with the Telus Actiontec to another port on the switch. You will get 2 WAN ip address (1 for each). Using your own router for both TV and Internet, you have to deal with TV multicast which can overwhelm your Wifi and shut down your router connectivity. You should also be able to use the Actiontec T series port1 bridge mode while on fibre. The Telus call center script readers will not support anything beyond their all in one Actiontec gateway. So deal with your own issues with your equipment. The ONT also has 2 POTS (plain old telephone service) ports for your phone, which can be adapted to connect to your current house phone lines if you don't have cordless phones. The ONT install might not be supplied with a UPS(uninteruptable power supply) if you don't subscribe to Telus home phone. You can use your own UPS to power the ONT. both of these links, towns shown, slightly differ at posting time Telus is updating their pages to remove the fibre.telus.com pages https://fibre.telus.com/ https://www.telus.com/en/bc/internet/fibre/communities * denotes as 'get Telus fibre' link edit: Telus also has fibre to the home in newly built areas of towns, that may not be shown on their list. Can someone confirm if this is valid. Seems to be a quiet new deal. It's a slightly hidden page (not linked from elsewhere) on the Telus main website. The usual capacity needed for high usage. Self install. May have subscription conditions to do with availability of Telus copper/fibre at your home, so rural usage is main target. Telus Optik Actiontec V1000H country code setting

Hi y'all, In visiting my parents in BC and configuring their home wireless network with lots of Apple devices as including a Time Capsule Airport Router, we are having some difficulties that migth be related to Apple's stringently following country-specific WiFi rules and a poorly configured Actiontec V1000H VDSL2/GigE Wireless 11n Gateway. Some country code info: http://www.howtogeek.com/211993/how-to-fix-conflicting-country-codes-and-improve-your-macs-wi-fi/ and https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6665548?start=0&tstart=0 It seems as though Apple devices decide what country they are in by looking at the country code advertised by nearby WiFi routers, and can get pissey if the country code they think they should be using is in conflict with the country code that the router they connect to. As I look at the country codes advertised by visible WiFi networks, I see a mix of mostly "CA" and blank, with a few "US" ones thown in - including my parents' Telus Actiontec V1000H. This conflicts with how I had set up their Time Capsule. Since we are in fact in Canada, the Actiontec should use the "CA" country code if it uses any one. I see that some of our neighbours' networks which are named TELUSnnnn do claim to be in "CA", but ours and some other Telus and non-telus labeled networks claim to be in "US". I cannot find any setting on the Actiontec to chanage the country code - does anyone know of any? Or any way to get it to advertise the "correct" country code (and supposedly follow the "CA" rules for WiFi - anyone know if they differ from the "US" rules?). In the meantime, I have set the Time Capsule to be "US" which I think has solved my conflict problem. Or maybe the other settings I switched have solved it (I have it in "bridge mode" so the Telus device can do the NAT/DHCP stuff, and I enabled IGMP snooping, and did not block IPv6 connections so that the Telus TV box which is downstream of the TC can do everything it wants to). - jb Edit - of possible relivance, the firmware version is: Firmware Version: 31.121L.17

Telus email after cancel service

Good day . I'll start with a back story . I am on a telus 15mb with unlimited in alberta . Am paying way too much I feel for what I get . $68.00 for 15Mb plus $15 unlimited . This is the fast dsl I can have at my home . I have spoken to a number for csr to see if they can help me . So I have been shopping around for about 6 months watching prices and talking with people . I stream and twitch . Twitch has to be late at night when the traffic is down . Anyways . My wife and I are at the point we are discussing email and the Telus.net does telus offer just an email service or let you keep the email as some us isp I hear do? Email shouldn't be what keeps a person locked in to a slow Internet provider . And I'll put this out there mone vs speed isn't what makes me switch . I would gladly stay with telus if they offered a fast speed . But With the current promotions and other company's knocking on the door it makes it hard to keep spending this kind of money for the slow service . But if anyone knows the best action to take regarding email with telus and can assist us thank you .

Unavailable seconds

I am on bonded 100/20. When I was on the 50/10 optik would get from 0-26 unavailable seconds, but now my line stats for both lines is always at least 54 unavailable seconds and that will be over a few hours of up time. I am just curious if that is considered normal? I do get periodic interruptions in line quality. As a side note when I first upgraded to the bonded the unavailable seconds sat at 0 for several weeks. Cheers

Actiontec TX200H / Bridged Port 1 / pfSense / Native IPv6

NOTE: There has been an update to this process. Refer to my post below. A while ago, I posted about getting native IPv6 working using pfSense through the bridged port 1 of a T2200H. At the time, it was not possible to get pfSense working without a hack due to some "ideosyncracies" of Telus' edge routers. Some people in the pfSense community have been working on this issue, because it's not only a Telus issue, but rather the issue is with other ISPs as well. I've been testing some patches that seem to work well with the Telus network. In case others want to get this working, I'll post some info below. This isn't going to be a detailed enough for someone who hasn't used pfSense or other similar router before, but hopefully it will help interested parties to get it working. When the patches make it into a development snapshot or a release, I'll post an update. Step 1. Download pfsense from www.pfsense.org/download and install it using the "quick / easy" mode. The latest version is 2.3.2. the patches that you will install below work with this version. Use default settings unless you know what you're doing. (I am not using VLAN, so if you need that, you're on your own.) During the installation, you will have to identify the WAN and LAN NICs. You should be able to identify them by the MAC address. Step 2. Install the Patch package. Step 3. Install the following patches, in the order they are listed below. RA Fix (first patch) 8c661bc8555321b76656e8a9723b4a7189eceb30 RA Fix (second patch) 8deada1f3e8db508e8e583e5287e465548f33325 After the patches are installed, it should look like this: [att=1] Step 4. Configure WAN Interface using these settings: [att=2] Step 5. Configure DHCP6 Client using these settings: [att=3] Step 6. Configure the router advertisements using these settings: [att=4] At this point, reboot the router, either using the console or diagnostics / reboot. (Continued below...)

[BC] routing issue

I recently upgraded from 15/5 to 50/10, and my ping considerably higher to most server locations now compared to before. The tech when he was installing said he changed which central office I was connected to. I am also experiencing large spikes in games, but this issue I've always had since changing from telus internet only to telus TV + internet.

Why so few TELUS Wifi Hotspots?

$

Shaw is very proactive with wifi. As far as I know, every Shaw business customer has a wifi hotspot that can be accessed by all Shaw customers and in some cases by guests. Subjectively, I'd guess that Shaw wifi hotspots outnumber Telus wifi hotspots by 10 or 20 to 1. Telus wifi hotspots are few and far between. Even their wifi finder (http://wififinder.telus.com/) is broken. It's a joke. Does anyone from Telus know why wifi is not being taken seriously?

Recently moved from 25 to 100 double bonded and my speed seems to vary all the time. I can go from 95+ all the way to constantly around 60mbit is this normal? Additionally I've noticed my ping time is changing all the time from 12 to 25ms.

Static external IP for the Rural LTE service

One of my friends out in Houston is using the new Rural LTE service, yet is having some port-forwarding problems. I am sure that this is due to the fact that he is using the same shared IP address that everyone else on the same tower receives. I was wondering if TELUS is able to provide static IP addresses to customers, so that they can have control over port forwarding? Thanks.
