[BC] Fibre + Bridge mode?

$

I haven't switched to Fibre, but I'm considering it. I remember when I switched to Telus DSL (from Shaw) I had a headache getting Telus to put the modem into bridge mode so I could use my own router... they had to swap the modem to an older model before they could accommodate me. So before I switch to Fibre, which I really know nothing about, I thought I'd ask: Can I use my own router with Telus Fibre? FYI I am not using OptikTV. Its just Internet only.

Tier1 has lost access to Tiers 2-3

The new "Telus v2" team seems to have lost access to calling anyone on the technical support side above them, delegating the issue to truck rolls. The reason for my call was the Telus DHCP server on ipv4,6 seems to have rate limited me and I can't clear my leases anymore because registerdevice.telus.com is broken. Meanwhile both help desk support agents tried to access the Telus modem over IP and were completely puzzled why it wasn't working... Any tips beyond calling in post 12AM EST to get a resolution from when Tier2 takes over?

[TV] Netflix

Anyone else find the Netflix experience on the TELUS boxes a joke and lacking? Regulary I have to deal with the program crashing and I go back in only to be told "oops something went wrong" or " can not acquire licence" only way to fix it is to power cycle the box. The PS3 and Ps4 Netflix is soon much better

Today I had to call in to get some account information for a client, as well, to then inquire about a different account (business vs residential), for speeds and cost. Lucky me, all 3 times I called I got the overseas drones on the phones. With the one guy, he was reading EXACTLY from his flowchart, speaking out loud (I'm paraphrasing), if customer says "yyyy" then, ask him/her this question. Another one, who told me a client could only get 6MBps/1MBps, told me that the town would be upgraded to fiber in 6mos. I seriously guffawed and LOL'ed. I'm in small town Alberta, and IF we do get fiber, I'm sure it will be at the tail end of the entire province. We JUST got 15MBps capability here about 6mos ago. Call me crazy but if we just got 15, I can't see a jump to fiber in 6mos. At the end I wanted to pound my head on my desk. You know, I'd pay to talk to a Canadian CSR, this was seriously painful. /done venting

Fiber "FIFA" (?) vs Falcon (?)

So this is really 4th hand information I'm trying to make sense of. A mother of my kid's friend overheard a discussion between her husband and his friend, who is a Telus technician of some sort. I overhear this mother chatting to someone else, recalling the conversation she thinks she heard. So... granted... this is really weak "information" and I'm not trying to report anything, but rather i'm hoping this triggers something that someone could perhaps shed some light on. Doubtful, but Googling got me nowhere. The gist is that we're currently on "FIFA" ("not the soccer thing", she says) and paying higher rates for Fiber, but in "3 to 4 months" they'll be switching to "Falcon", and supposedly "rates will be dropping across the board for everyone". She said FIFA was an acronym that started with Fiber and ended with Association, but she couldn't remember the rest. She specifically says the Telus guy said this is inside stuff that's not supposed to get out, "so don't tell anyone". Does that ring a bell for anyone? The only reason I don't think it is total BS, is why would a couple of soccer mom's be talking about Fiber infrastructure unless it really was something she heard? It came up because the other was complaining about a Telus door-to-door salesman. Also, the ONLY fruit I got from Google was a reference to "Project Falcon" in Vancouver, which is Telus' fiber infrastructure upgrades in that area. But it was unclear if that's upgrading to what all Telus Fiber customers already have, or if it is indeed something even better.

Hey, I tried igmp and firewall settings posted here from 2014. But those igmp settings don't work anymore. Anyone knows the new settings so I can plug in the telus iptv box to my pfsense router? If you use any other router I can also use the information so I can try them out.

Hey guys, just wanted somewhere to vent our household frustrations. We were scheduled to have our services upgraded to fibre at the beginning of May. The appointment was for 8-10am. Waited and waited till we decided to call at 11. Apparently the wrong team was sent so we we booked another date. Shit happens, we moved on. Second appointment, same time. No show, no call. This can't just be a coincidence right? Nobody picked up the call/ticket. Rescheduled. All the while our current internet was disconnected and I had to sit with tech support going through the usual trouble shooting. They figured out it had been disconnected and was to be "rebuilt". They offered us 50% off bill for next 6 months Queue third appointment. Yesterday we had it scheduled for 4-6. There was just no way they could possibly miss a third one right? Phone rings at 5:50. Whoops sorry there was an issue with scheduling. Internet was disconnected that morning so we were without internet and TV all day. Whatever, we're getting fibre at 4. Nope. Connection needs to be "rebuilt" and could take up to 24 hours. So that's where I sit now. No internet or TV. Router is showing a connection but when trying to connect it asks for a sign in and redirects to an activation url which fails to connect. I have never had any issues with Telus before. It has always been a pleasant experience. We're all just in a sort of shock right now. How can we even trust a 4th appointment?

Greetings, My new tablet is able to use 802.11 ac, but it's not supported by our T1200H. Is it worth trying to get Telus to upgrade our equipment... to a T3200M?? If it matters, we have OptikTV, home phone and Internet 25; only available upgrade is Internet 50 (bonded).

Telus telephone box needs physical fix (Canyon meadows Calgary)

Could not find an easy way to contact Telus easily this morning (I'm not a telus customer, and I don't have a direct email) If there happens to be a Telus tech reading this, the 100+ kilometer per hour winds last night blew open the local green distribution box covers and is now fully exposed to the weather. Canyon Meadows Condominiums (T2W 1H6) You've got about six hours to fix it before the rains come back and wash the electronics with a nice shower.

Bridging on T1200H won't pick up IP, support useless

Last night I connected my Cisco RV130 WAN port to the Actiontec port 1 and selected bridge mode. Just to be safe I rebooted both modems. No WAN IP on the Cisco. I left it over night to see if the system might need an update. Nothing this morning. I even let the Cisco do the Wizard thing to set up the WAN but nothing. Tech support, Hardy(sp) in Calgary, didn't know but to his credit actually called me back only later than he said. Their 3RD PARTY next tier support Tech Support Plus told him they could ping the router, the ACTIONTEC, which is irrelevant to this issue. He transferred me to them WITHOUT telling me they charge extra for support FOR THE SERVICE I ALREADY CONTRACT FROM TELUS! So what now? My equipment is operating. The cisco had already been acting as a gateway to a non-bridged port where the WAN port could pick up an IP from the Actiontec. The settings remain unchanged now. Telus tech support doesn't know what to do and THEY are the only ones that can issue my bridged Cisco router with an IP. HELP!....please....I am not a newbie to networking but willing to listen to anything that will help....

Some of these are still to be built/mapped Edit: The Fibre optical Network Terminal (ONT) is the Telus modem. You can plug your personal router to the ONT and get service. If you also have Optik TV, you can plug gigabit switch to the ONT and use your router to one port with the Telus Actiontec to another port on the switch. You will get 2 WAN ip address (1 for each). Using your own router for both TV and Internet, you have to deal with TV multicast which can overwhelm your Wifi and shut down your router connectivity. You should also be able to use the Actiontec T series port1 bridge mode while on fibre. The Telus call center script readers will not support anything beyond their all in one Actiontec gateway. So deal with your own issues with your equipment. The ONT also has 2 POTS (plain old telephone service) ports for your phone, which can be adapted to connect to your current house phone lines if you don't have cordless phones. The ONT install might not be supplied with a UPS(uninteruptable power supply) if you don't subscribe to Telus home phone. You can use your own UPS to power the ONT. both of these links, towns shown, slightly differ at posting time Telus is updating their pages to remove the fibre.telus.com pages https://fibre.telus.com/ https://www.telus.com/en/bc/internet/fibre/communities * denotes as 'get Telus fibre' link edit: Telus also has fibre to the home in newly built areas of towns, that may not be shown on their list. ------ BC ------ Abbotsford Armstrong -- Burnaby Castlegar *Chemainus Chilliwack *Comox *Courtenay *Cranbrook Creston Cowachin Valley areas Dawson Creek Duncan Fernie Fort St John Gibsons Grand Forks Hope Hudsons Hope Kamloops Kelowna Kimberley Kitimat Lake Country 250/250 Merritt Mission Moricetown Naramata 250/250 , with the Penticton build *North Vancouver, coming soon Edit: Hmmm. Can someone confirm if this is valid. Seems to be a quiet new deal. It's a slightly hidden page (not linked from elsewhere) on the Telus main website. Much better than what is the usual offering with lower caps and higher price. https://www.telus.com/en/bc/mobility/mobile-internet/ Limited to eligible cities in BC and Alberta, but there is many of them. The usual capacity needed for high usage. Self install. May have subscription conditions to do with availability of Telus copper/fibre at your home, so rural usage is main target. [BC] Replacing Telus Modem

I'm still using an old V1000 Actiontec but my brother just upgraded to 4K so Telus replaced his T1200 modem. If I was to take his old modem for use on my account, what would be the steps involved in getting it to work on my account? Do I need to get a hold of Telus support to register it to my account?

Telus T2200H to T220M

Good day all, I tried putting my T2200H into bridge mode using the method with f12, but I get an invalid user error when I hit apply. So, I called Telus to get them to bridge it and was told that with the latest firmware that they can enable it but it doesn't actually take effect. So.... it's either I go to the business account or get a modem of my own. Have some questions though: 1) If I pickup a T2200M will Telus be able to update the firmware on it? I don't think they provide this device so I'm thinking not 2) I'm guessing I can put the Ubquiti ERlite-3 on port 1 and just keep my 2 hardwired Optik tv receivers on port 2 and 3? Thanks for any assistance.

Telus Fibre 150/150 - topping out at 90 Mbps?

I've had Telus Fibre 150/150 for a few months, and, except for a brief period at the start and a small window a few weeks back, I've noticed that my speed pretty much tops out at 90-ish Mbps. Nothing in my download logs for the past several months (except as noted above) goes above 11MB/s. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Why am I not getting full speed all the time?
