A family member of mine just signed up with Telus recently, on the highest speed available in the area - 15/1mbit - but when the tech arrived, he alerted us that we have two lines coming into our demarc, and they sync up at 36/6mbit and 38/6.5mbit. Only one is plugged in to deliver the 15. According to the website 15 and 25mbit are the same price, but when we phoned in to get shifted to 25mbit, Telus was unable to do so - they said it's an area where that's only allowed if you have OptikTV?
The tech also told us that bonded 50mbit or even 75mbit should be available. I inquired about that when speaking with Telus, and they said they'd look into it, and phone me back in a few days. Also gave me ticket numbers to check in on. Nobody phoned back, and when I phone in to check, they just say that it has been handed off to another division, and there are no updates.
I'm just curious what's going on - the area apparently supports bonded 75mbit, but for some reason the only speed offered is 15mbit, unless you have OptikTV. Shouldn't Telus be trying to woo over Shaw customers by having higher speed offerings? I am confused.
My family would definitely upgrade to a higher speed if anyone at Telus could sort out whatever kink is in the system that prevents it from being offered.
